Synth Aria is an abstract story about an AI machine learning how to write a song. We are most interested in visualizing the machine’s learning process as we walk through its first attempts and iterations. After some mistakes and dead ends, connections are made and a more grandiose song begins to take shape. We sought to produce a style that was precise and mechanical and yet whimsical and organic.

Ironically enough the score, artwork, and animation used no AI tools what so ever. Kind of the opposite of the trend today.

AI is an interesting tool with a wide range of positive and negative impacts. Synth Aria is one story—a fantastical and abstract view of the machine’s learning process from start to finish.
